Cornish hedging, coppersmithing and basketmakingHeritage Crafts and Penwith Landscape Partnership have teamed up to run an exciting heritage crafts pre-apprenticeship programme, which is now seeking 16 to 25-year-olds in West Cornwall to try their hand at Cornish hedging, coppersmithing and basketmaking between February and April 2023.

This opportunity will allow you to find out what it would be like to work in heritage crafts, learning from masters of their crafts whose knowledge and skills have been passed down through the generations. The project follows on from success in Somerset in 2017, which resulted in a full-time apprentice in paper making.

  • Would you be interested in trying a new practical skill in a traditional craft and learn more about being self-employed or working in a small business?
  • You can gain valuable experience to add to your CV / portfolio and there are also opportunities to attend further training.
  • You will be guided through the process by a dedicated Project Manager acting as mentor.

Come and join us and our craft professionals for a work placement – you never know where it might lead….!

Clear here to apply or for more details please contact Project Manager Anna Pope at anna@heritagecrafts.org.uk.
