Heritage Crafts Member Bookclub

12th December 2025  |  MEMBERS - EXCLUSIVE CONTENT

Heritage Crafts Member Bookclub

This new year will see the launch of the first Heritage Crafts member bookclub. The club will meet once a quarter.

First Meeting: 23 February 2026

Where: Zoom (Register here: https://zoom.us/meeting/register/ORJp9cyeRv2pYaqx9zBiNQ fj)

First book is Craftland: In Search of Lost Arts and Disappearing Trades by James Fox.

You can find the book online or in most bookstores. An audiobook version narrated by the author is available on Audible and Spotify. If you are having trouble finding the book, please email [email protected].

The questions below are there for you to consider when reading Craftland if you wish to enhance your reading experience before the bookclub meeting. We will chat about some of the questions, but the group conversation will not be forced to stay strictly on these questions.

Things to think about:

Which section were you most interested in (Landscape, Community, Industry) and why?

If you had to add one more chapter to the book, what craft skill/maker’s story would you add?

Do you think Fox achieved his goal in bringing awareness to heritage skills and endangered crafts? Why or why not?

Are books like Craftland an effective craft advocacy method? Why or why not?

Happy reading!
