A fill-time position for a Textile Manufacturing Assistant in flat-weave carpet production – working across a variety of manufacturing skills with the initial focus on warehousing and yarn preparation tasks in order to provide maternity cover for one of our employees. At the same time you will be covering the basics of weaving and loom preparation with a view to these becoming the main tasks in the future.

Initially, the position is a one year fixed term appointment to allow flexibility for maternity cover and beyond. However, the intention is that the position will become permanent in due course.

Requirements:

• This work involves goods handling, machine operation, maintenance and cleaning; this is a physical job with very little sedentary work.  Some machinery dimensions and tasks can be difficult for people under approximately 165 cm tall but this should be seen as a guideline and is subject to individual assessment.
• Literacy and numeracy to GCSE level (or equivalent) is required, you should be able to follow written and verbal instructions accurately.  Some experience, knowledge or interest in textiles would be advantageous but a willingness to learn and a positive, flexible attitude is more valuable.
• Good eyesight appropriate to the materials and tasks (with or without glasses) is required.
• Applicants must not have colour-blindness issues.
