Abraham Moon & Sons is an international brand with a long-standing reputation for innovation, design and premium quality – producing authentic, woollen fabrics and accessories for leading fashion brands and interior designers worldwide.
The company is looking for an enthusiastic Trainee Multiskilled Cloth Production Operative to join its team. You’ll work alongside experienced weavers, twisters and tuners, learning all of these technical crafts while completing the in house training program. The role plays a key role in preserving Abraham Moon & Sons’ craftsmanship and heritage while building the foundations of a skilled career.
Key responsibilities:
- Assist in minimising loom downtime by supporting job changes, weft changes, piece felling and weaving, by working alongside tuners, weavers and twisters
- Learn to understand and interpret peg plans, drafts etc
- Learn weaving principles including set up, operating and monitoring
- Recognising faults, and how to respond to these quickly to avoid long running issues and troubleshooting
- Ensure fabric meets design, patterns and quality
- Assist and check lease bands, rods, warp sheets and ensure all ends are in the lease and warped to pattern
- Support setting up drawing in and knotting machines, ensuring correct picking needle size
- Maintain a safe working environment by strictly adhering to company Health & Safety rules and procedures
- Maintain high standards of housekeeping
- Assist with safe movement of materials and finished pieces
Skills and experience required:
- Maths & English level 2 preferable
- Interest in mechanics, engineering
- Team worker, with excellent communication skills

The hours are 6am to 2pm and 2pm to 10pm alternate weeks Monday to Friday.
