Heritage Crafts Awards 2025 finalists announced

Following a strong year full of high-quality nominations, the finalists for this year’s Heritage Crafts Awards, supported by the King Charles III Charitable Fund, The Royal Mint, Maxwell/Hanrahan Foundation, Marsh Charitable Trust, Costume Society, William Grant Foundation, Silverlining Furniture, Leathersellers’ Foundation, House of Sonnaz, Rose Uniacke, Broderers’ CompanyLucy and Laurence Butcher and the Queen Elizabeth Scholarship Trust have been announced.

The finalists are (in alphabetical order):

Patron’s Award for Endangered Crafts (supported by the King Charles III Charitable Fund)

  • Emily Johnson – industrial ceramicist
  • Deborah McGuire – quilter in a frame
  • Mark Shiner – sail maker

Precious Metalworker of the Year (supported by The Royal Mint)

  • Angela Cork – silversmith
  • Alice Fry – silversmith
  • Stephen M Goldsmith – silver polisher

Fashion and Textile Maker of the Year (supported by the Costume Society)

  • Rachel Frost – hat maker
  • Claire Hunter – weaver
  • Chloe Savage – embroiderer

England Maker of the Year (supported by the Maxwell/Hanrahan Foundation)

  • Angela Cork – silversmith
  • Florence Hamer – basketmaker and green woodworker
  • Razwan Ul-Haq – Arabic calligrapher

Northern Ireland Maker of the Year (supported by the Maxwell/Hanrahan Foundation)

  • Bernard Cunningham – traditional plasterer and tool maker
  • Karen Hamilton  weaver
  • Deborah White – linen damask weaver

Scotland Maker of the Year (supported by the William Grant Foundation)

  • Sam Cooper and Richard Platt – chair makers

Wales Maker of the Year (supported by Silverlining Furniture)

  • Hannah Cantwell – straw worker
  • Billie Ireland – charcoal sculptor
