About
Sophie is a making practitioner who sews, draws, prints. Trained in bespoke tailoring with previous experience at Wales Bonner, Robert Woods, Royal Opera House, Academy Costumes etc she now designs and makes pieces that range from climbing trousers and shirts, to wedding dresses and bespoke pieces.
She became drawn to everyday moments of garments in terms of repair, care and wear. From researching and design displays of textile objects in museum/gallery collections, the importance of the ‘archive’ became central to her work, whether that be historical textiles or our own everyday textiles. Drawing and printmaking is central to her work, focusing on line and movement inspired from her tailoring/ textile based background
Sophie is available for bespoke garment commissions, whilst also selling her prints and drawings at exhibitions and craft fairs. She also runs still life drawing workshops focusing on the drapery of cloth and pattern in amongst interesting objects.
