About
Sarah has been willow weaving in her hometown of Caerphilly since 2008. In 2009 she started planting her own willow beds and now grows 26 varieties a short walk from her home. Sarah has continued expanding her willow beds with plans to machine cut the acre of willow she will be planting over the coming years. She sells willow cuttings but also hopes to sell a small number of willow bundles in the future.
In 2014 she was commissioned to create 70 gift hamper baskets for the NATO Summit being held in Newport. Along with some fellow basketmakers the commission was completed and they were presented to the World leaders and delegates attending the Summit filled with beautiful Welsh produce. She attained her City and Guilds level 2 with Eddie Glew as the main tutor in 2018. Along with Melanie Bastier she was commissioned by The Living Levels project on the Gwent Levels to weave a brinker sculpture which was featured in the BBCs Countryfile program. She was also absolutely delighted to be chosen as the basketry expert to be featured on the BBCs The Repair Shop.
As well as continuing to develop her skills in basketmaking Sarah has also started replacing chair seating using rush, cane and seagrass. Sarah also teaches courses in basketmaking at the lovely Nantgarw China Works Museum.
