About

Quentin is a freelance marquetry artist (marquetarian) with over 30 years experience of making high-quality, hand-cut, marquetry and parquetry. He is the founder of the Staffordshire Marquetry Group and a former President of The Marquetry Society and has received numerous awards at the Society's international exhibitions including for miniature, portraiture and applied work.

A microbiologist by training, Quentin set up QJS Marquetry in 2009, taking on marquetry commissions, making and selling marquetry kits and teaching marquetry techniques. He has written articles for magazines including The Marquetarian, Furniture & Cabinetmaking and Woodworking Crafts and taught at prestigious locations including The Hepworth Gallery in Wakefield, Harewood House, Ardington School of Crafts, Peter Sefton's Furniture School and Denman College. His work can be found around the globe, including a leisure centre in Oldham, ships of the Australian Navy, the National Gallery of Finland and on a canoe in Canada!
