About

Traditional and heritage joinery and hand made furniture (also using machines because old cast iron machines are beautiful too!)
Started off in antiques restoration and came to joinery later, fell in love with how well things are put together and replacing pieces that have stood for hundreds of years in exactly the same way.
I'm fascinated with practically applied geometry and trigonometry and how they can be used to imagine, design and build any forms that can be imagined. I'm passionate about keeping these traditional methods of designing and building alive as the prevalence of computer aided design takes over. As Sim Ayers put it "a craftsman who spends their whole life doing a few simple operations has little chance of exercising their intelligence and thus corrupts the spirit of their mind"
I'm also interested in building conservation and how we face the challenges of maintaining our buildings character while bringing them into the future to face the realities of climate change.
