About
Nidavellnir is the UK's leading Historical Nalbinding Specialist and the UK's first Nalbinding Master Craftsman.
Nidavellnir is run by archaeological artefact specialist and heritage Master Craftsman, Emma 'Bruni' Boast MA; who is proficient in several forms of different cultural nalbinding from different historical and archaeological periods. Within over 20 years experience in British archaeology and experimental archaeology, Emma is passionate about the craftsmanship of the past.
Emma has been a member of the Heritage Craft association since 2018, and joined Exarc International in 2019, to support archaeological interpretation and experimental archaeology. In 2020, Emma joined the Guild of Master Craftsman UK, her nalbinding craftsmanship being recognized as being of an exceptional standard.
Nidavellnir has made nalbound items for museum displays, educational resources, re-enactment communities and the TV/Film Industry. From the British Museum, London, UK to the Roskilda Ship Museum, Denmark.
Nidavellnir launched the first 'Nalbinding for Beginners' Book and Starter Kit in February 2018, to promote, teach and safeguard this heritage craft. In March 2019, Nidavellnir was instrumental in getting Nalbinding listed as an Endangered Heritage Craft in the UK.
Nidavellnir's aim is to safeguard this craft by developing teaching and educational materials to bring awareness of this craft to more people. As well as attending any wool craft and heritage shows, teaching, demonstrating and encouraging people to start learning this ancient craft for Historical purposes.
Emma is also affiliated with the University of York, as an archaeological technical specialist.
