About

We are all vessels, a holding of memories made from days and time. And we all should have a basket. They are needed to carry what we love and what, from our past, is important for the future. My works are made from and with the landscapes I love and visit again and again. Wild dug clay beads from the Highlands, heather from the Calder Valley, rose hips from the Sussex Downs. Festooned with ‘wombled’ treasure, making use of left over stuff. Resulting in unique, statement pieces, ultimate 'bags for life'.

Basket making – the Mother of pottery – has been going on for 10’s of 1000’s of years. Filling a need, a basket would be made from whatever was to hand, bramble, hazel, vines, oak, rush and bark. Each made for a purpose and used for years till it broke dawn and returned to the Earth. No plastic, no pollution, no problem. My pieces can be given a purpose too. A handbag affair, shopping, foraging or storage. Each practical and yet a thing of beauty, a hymn sounding out against the heinous plastic bag.
