About
Laura Thomas is an established woven textile artist, designer and maker specialising in producing unconventional textiles for contemporary spaces. She established her studio practice in 2003 in South Wales, following a first class degree from Birmingham City University, an MA from the Royal College of Art and a Weave Design Research Fellowship at the Ann Sutton Foundation. Laura has worked on a huge range of commissions and projects over the last twenty years covering design for industry, public art commission, curation, research and education. She has work in the permanent collections of the V&A, Crafts Study Centre, National Wool Museum and Powerhouse Museum in Australia, and recent awards include the Gold Medal for Craft and Design at the Eisteddfod, Janome Fine Art Textile Award and Best Maker in Wales (Craft Festival).
