About

Joanne Mather is a handweaver based in Formby, on the NW coast of England, where she is inspired by the landscape and history of the local area.
She works on a 16 shaft table loom and a restored 100 year old countermarche loom at home in her garden studio.
Joanne's work often features double weave where the loom is used as a colour palette to explore the mixing of colours and interlacing of yarns, to create beautiful shades reflecting the natural environment.
Mather Makes also includes the work of Joe, Joanne's son, who is qualified in Level 3 carpentry and is autistic; where wood and textiles comes together to craft individual pieces.
