Preserving a Proud Tradition — One Brushstroke at a Time
We're proud to open our (lock) gates to you! As a family-run business, Wilkinson & Sons brings generations of craftsmanship to the waterways and beyond.

Specialising in traditional hand-painted canal art, our work keeps alive the heritage of roses and castles—an iconic style deeply rooted in Britain's canal history.

Every piece is created with care, colour, and character.

Did you know? Canal painting is now recognised as an endangered craft. We're dedicated to keeping this historic art form alive—honouring the past while creating something truly personal for the present.

Follow us for updates, commissions, behind-the-scenes looks, and a splash of colour in your feed!

‘Ditty Box’ A ‘Ditty Box’ is a 19th Century phrase coined to describe a small box fashioned by Boatmen, Sailors and Fishermen in which to store precious personal items as well as things like needle and thread and soap. Our ‘Ditty Boxes’ are traditionally hand painted with a contemporary twist that features vinyl lettering on the front.
