Elaine Cooper

About

Elaine expresses her artistry through the medium of Japanese handmade paper. She developed her skills following a 10 year apprenticeship in Japan to become a leading exponent and promoter of the art of traditional washi papermaking.
Working with natural fibres such as kozo, mitsumata and silk, she creates stunning, textural papers that integrate seamlessly with her artwork.
Her continuing work in paper research has enabled her to further develop the properties of paper, functionally or aesthetically as an artistic medium, or for specialised contemporary applications.
