About
Alis Le May is a Glasgow-based bespoke tailor specialising in traditional hand-crafted tailoring and couture dressmaking. Working from her East End studio, she designs, drafts, cuts and constructs garments entirely in-house using heritage techniques, including hand-padded canvasses and structured tailoring methods.
In 2025, Alis developed Clò An Tìr, a collection rooted in UK-sourced, biodegradable materials, reflecting her commitment to regenerative cloth and place-based making. Her practice combines technical rigour with a contemporary sensitivity to sustainability and provenance.
Alongside private commissions and occasional film work, Alis is committed to skills transmission. She trains apprentices within her studio and delivers educational workshops, contributing to the revival and continuation of bespoke tailoring in Scotland.
Her work advocates for locally made clothing and the long-term future of high-level tailoring in the UK craft sector.
