Sarah Davis in Conversation

Join Heritage Crafts in conversation with illuminator Sarah Davis.

Sarah has been the second Society of Antiquaries of London / Heritage Crafts Maker in Residence at Kelmscott Manor, the summer home of William Morris. A graduate of Chelsea College of Art, she returned to education in 2015 to study woodcarving and gilding at the City & Guilds of London Art School, where she now teaches on the Woodcarving BA & Conservation BA.

Sarah’s work explores themes relating to the cyclical nature of recovery and renewal. The natural world serves as a deep pool of inspiration with the allegory, myth and folklore of animalistic subjects driving her narrative approach. She uses traditional making techniques with a deep historical resonance. Since 2020 she has been practicing the art of illumination which is listed on the Heritage Crafts Red List of Endangered Crafts.

The session will take place on Zoom and attendees must register in advance via Eventbrite. Attendees will also have the opportunity to submit questions in advance.
