From April 2026, HMRC is introducing Making Tax Digital – a new way for sole traders and those who are self-employed to report their income and expenses. Instead of one annual Self Assessment tax return, sole traders will now have to keep digital records using approved software and submit their finances to HMRC every three months.
These changes will be implemented in stages between April 2026 to 2028, impacting sole traders according to the following annual turnover:
- 6 April 2026 – turnover above £50,000
- 6 April 2027 – turnover above £30,000
- 6 April 2028 – turnover above £20,000
The scheme aims to simplify the year-end process, but this change will bring a new admin burden and challenges for those not already using digital accounting software.
Hence, we are hosting a webinar led by Jo Tomlinson, Managing Director at Business Works, to break down and simplify what Making Tax Digital entails. The webinar will also offer a Q&A session at the end, allowing attendees to ask Jo any questions directly.
The session will take place on Zoom and attendees must register in advance via the button below.
