Heritage Crafts/Marsh Endangered Craft Award 2019

Clog maker Simon Brock from Sheffield won the HC/Marsh Endangered Craft Award. This award, set up with the support of the Marsh Christian Trust, recognises a practitioner of one of the crafts listed in the ‘critically endangered’ or ‘endangered’ categories of the HCA Red List of Endangered Crafts and who is actively promoting their craft and working to secure its survival for the future. Nominees are asked to demonstrate how the award will be used to help safeguard their craft.

About

I make clogs using a combination of hand and machine tools, principally for clog step dancers and morris dancers in England and Wales, as well as for everyday wear.

I attend a number of clog dancing events and folk festivals throughout the year, please see the website for more details. You can visit the workshop for fittings but please get in touch first to arrange an appointment.

I also make bespoke leather items, primarily for folk and medieval musicians.
