About

Sylva Wood School: Inspiring excellence in craft, design and education using home-grown timber

The Wood School bridges the gap between education and the wood industry. It is inspiring and educating the next generation of designers, makers, consumers and woodland owners in the value of home-grown timber.

We deliver courses from one-day experiences in a wide range of woodworking crafts to our innovative six-months Professional Course in furniture making. Students learn in a professionally-equipped workshop and the learning is brought to life by making batch produced projects for real clients.

In 2024 we were awarded a grant from The National Lottery Heritage Fund to support our Woodworking and Gender Project, established to tackle gender inequality in Britain’s heritage woodwork and furniture making sectors.
