Jan Timms Tambour Beading and Embroidery

I am a tambour beading and tambour embroidery tutor. For many years I worked in costume and couture as a designer technician and I now concentrate on teaching tambour beading and tambour embroidery to keep the skills alive.   Tambour is an incredibly versatile  craft and is used among other techniques to produce needle made lace such as Limerick Lace, Coggeshall Lace, Lier Lace, applique, surface chain stitch, satin stitch as well as being used for the application of beads and sequins.

About

This type of beading and embroidery is also known as Broderie Chainette and Broderie de Luneville, named after Luneville in France where during the 19th century the tambour hook, which had been used exclusively for surface thread embroidery was first used for the application of beads and sequins.
