About

I am training as the 5th generation in a ceramics tradition spanning over 100 years.

The Leach tradition balances the production of an ergonomic standard ware catalogue, celebrating the beauty of form and functionality made by hand and designed to be part of your everyday rhythms, with the opportunity for every potter to also express their own artistic individuality.

I studied Art History at Plymouth University and trained and worked as a traditional English lampshade maker after graduating, as well as working as a musician in the Southwest.
I began training in ceramics in 2022 in the hopes of keeping the family tradition alive and although Breast Cancer treatment has held me back, I am now practising between Ocean Studios in Plymouth with Tweeny Van Mierlo and Muchelney Pottery in Somerset with Mark Melbourne where I have initiated my training as an apprentice.

My own style is still yet to be defined as I have so much to learn and clay is such a flexible medium. My focus in my apprenticeship is production pottery first and learning the Leach standard ware shapes (developed by John Leach), learning the language of clay and the process of wood firing. I am enjoying experimenting with shape and decoration techniques and the tutelage of the wonderful potters around me.
