Rosie Elwood, Jewellery Maker and Metal Thread Embroiderer

In 2023, Rosie Elwood from Whitley Bay, Tyneside, is a jewellery maker who trained in the craft of metal thread embroidery with goldwork embroiderer Hanny Newton and through various short courses offered by the Royal School of Needlework. Rosie incorporated goldwork embroidery into her jewellery, as well as created stand alone embroidery pieces. The manufacture of metal thread is another critically endangered craft in the UK, and Rosie’s work helped raise awareness of this unique material.
