Join Heritage Crafts in conversation with shoe maker Deborah Carré at 7pm on 30 July.
Deborah Carré is an award-winning bespoke shoemaker (cordwainer) who in 2004, together with fellow shoemaker James Ducker, founded Carréducker, where they make handsewn shoes to commission using traditional heritage techniques. They are champions of the heritage craft of shoe making and an important part of the British trade, passing on the skills of the trade to students from around the world.
Originally from Sark in the Channel Islands, Deborah completed an Art Foundation Course at St Martins School of Art in London, before studying Fashion Design & Marketing at the University of Central Lancashire. Following a successful career in PR, Deborah was awarded a QEST scholarship to retrain as a shoemaker in 1997.
The session will take place on Zoom and attendees must register in advance via Eventbrite. Attendees will also have the opportunity to submit questions in advance.
